Tartu nightclubs reopen doors after end of night-time ban on alcohol sales

BC, Tallinn, 10.09.2020.Print version
Restrictions on the night-time sales of alcohol ended in Tartu County from Monday, whereupon many Tartu nightclubs announced that they would reopen their doors to patrons, the regional Tartu Postimees reports, cites LETA/BNS.

The Vabank nightclub, where a coronavirus outbreak began in July with altogether 37 people becoming infected, announced on its Facebook page that its first event has been scheduled for Friday. The nightclub manager said that all patrons will have their temperature taken in a contactless way and they will also need to disinfect their hands upon entry. Partygoers will also have an opportunity to share their contact details with Vabank at the event to ensure that the nightclub can inform them of any new coronavirus risks and also share the information with the Health Board.

Shooters nightclub also announced its reopening on social media. In order to disperse people on the dance floor, Shooters has decided to only allow 50-percent occupancy at the venue. Face masks will be distributed at the club's entrance free of charge; wearing a mask at the venue is recommended.

The owner of Shooters said that the club plans to disinfect all surfaces, including the bar counter, tables and door handles, at the club at least every two hours.

Level nightclub in Tartu opened its doors already on Tuesday and will be open throughout the week.

A coronavirus outbreak originating from Vabank, Shooters and the Naiiv bar saw 37, 20 and 21 people infected, respectively, in July. The outbreak in Tartu was officially considered over at the start of this month.
