Latvian imports of forestry products decrease 8% in H1
Timber and timber products made up most or 60.1% of total
forestry product imports in January-June (62% a year ago), accounting for EUR
266.028 mln and declining by 10.8% from January-June 2019.
Sawn-timber imports dropped 25.7% y-o-y to EUR 68.796 mln,
round timber imports declined 17.2% to EUR 46.753 mln, while firewood imports
increased 13.5 % to EUR 37.411 mln.
Paper, cardboard and their products accounted for EUR 135.816
mln of Latvia's forestry product imports in January-June, down 2.4% compared to
the first half of 2019. These products made up 30.7% (28.9% a year ago) of
total forest product imports in January-June.
Lithuania supplied the largest amount of forestry industry
products to Latvia in January-June, accounting for EUR 81.962 mln, or 18.5% of
total forestry industry imports. Belarus supplied EUR 76.135 mln worth of
products, or 17.2%, and Poland supplied products for EUR 51.989 mln, or 11.7%.
In January-June last year, Latvia imported EUR 481.007 mln
worth of forestry products.
