Authorities revoke liquor license for "Lord Pub" in Riga

Nina Kolyako, BC, Riga, 02.07.2009.Print version
The State Revenue Service Excise Goods Department in Latvia has revoked the liquor license for the Riga Old Town "Lord Pub".

The decision came in force this week, LETA learned at the State Revenue Service. The decision was published in the government's official newspaper Latvijas Vestnesis on June 30.

The State Revenue Service has not revealed the reason for the revoke of license. "Lord Pub" is one of seven establishments that the U.S. Embassy has warned U.S. citizens avoid in Old Town.

As reported, according to the State Criminal Police Riga Region Administration Chief Ints Kuzis, an investigation department has been formed to deal with tourist scams in Riga. In April, complaints about scams and rip-offs at "Lord Pub" (22 Kalku Street), "Saxon" (7 Laipu Street) and "Mary" (13 Audeju Street) have been submitted to the police.
