The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and the North Estonia Medical Center (PERH) have signed a 24.5 million euro loan agreement for the renovation and expansion of the PERH campus in Tallinn, informs LETA/BNS.

The 20-year maturity loan will finance the construction of a new wing at PERH's Mustamae medical campus, PERH said.

The new wing will house the pathology center as well as the oncology and haematology clinic. The wing will accommodate 120 beds and offer treatment facilities for the chemotherapy, radiotherapy and nephrology departments. Construction is expected to be completed in 2021.

"The expansion of the Mustamae hospital campus is an important part of our development plans," said Agris Peedu, CEO of PERH. "This large-scale financing allows us to offer patients even better access to treatment."

"The modernization of the hospital will introduce new treatment options and allow for more efficient operations at the facilities. Patients will profit from improved quality of care, and medical students will be able to access modern equipment and technology," said Henrik Normann, NIB president and CEO.

The main hospital for North Estonia, PERH is one of the top health care providers in the country. It includes seven clinics with 32 centers for specialized medical care, and offers treatment to approximately 145,000 patients. PERH employs around 4,000 professionals and is the sixth largest employer in Estonia.
