BC, Tallinn, 22.08.2017.Print version
Euroapotheca UAB Vilniaus Prekyba, Lithuanian owner of the Euroapteek pharmacy chain in Estonia, is not planning to leave the Estonian market in connection with the amendments to the Medicinal Products Act and the Health Services Organization Act taking effect in 2020, informs LETA/BNS.

"Euroapotheca Group is not considering divesting its Estonian businesses in the near future," Euroapotheca Group CEO Ruta Lapinskiene told BNS.

Amendments to the Medicinal Products Act and the Health Services Organization Act adopted by the Estonian parliament in May 2014 make it illegal from April 1, 2020 for persons holding an activity license for the wholesale distribution or manufacturing of medicinal products or a health service license, or undertakings related to these undertakings via dominant influence for the purposes of the Competition Act, to be shareholders or members of a private legal person holding a general pharmacy license.

The Euroapteek brand belongs to the company Euroapotheca, which operates over 400 drugstores in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Ukraine. Euroapotheca belongs to Vilniaus Prekyba, a holding company belonging to the owner of Maxima retail chain.
