Vegetable prices in Latvia this fall might be slightly higher than a year ago, said Maira Dzelzkaleja-Burmistre, the chairwoman of the Farmers Parliament organization, in an interview with the commercial LNT television on Monday, cites LETA.

"Squashes, pumpkins could be by some eurocents more expensive, but I do not think the price rise will be considerable," she said, adding that cucumbers already cost more than last year.

She also said that Latvian local vegetables market is very small, there are just over 100 farms that grow vegetables.

The Farmers Parliament unites 900 farms with more than 500,000 hectares of land and employing more than 4,000 workers.
