Small breweries account for 21% total amount of beer produced in Latvia

Print versionLatvia's small breweries produced 9.68 million liters of beer in the first six months of the year, which makes up 21% of the total amount of beer produced in Latvia in the first half-year, writes LETA, according to the State Revenue Service's data.

At the end of June, 39 companies in Latvia had the status of a small
brewery.
The Revenue Service notes that beer produced by small breweries is applied
a 50% excise tax rebate. Many small breweries have been operating for years in
Latvia, and small breweries' effect on the overall beer production amounts in
Latvia is quite significant.
In total, 45.995 million liters of beer was produced in Latvia in the
January-June, which is 12.04% more than in the first half of 2016.
