Sindi yarn factory planning to hire 75 workers in 2 years

BC, Tallinn, 18.05.2017.Print version
The Danspin yarn dyeing factory at Sindi, not far from the southwestern Estonian regional capital Parnu, is about to hire 75 more workers this year and in 2018 to carry out a contract to produce more than 1,000 tons of yarn for the manufacture of carpets for the world's largest cruise ships, writes LETA/BNS.

The factory has concluded an agreement to supply the said amount of yarn to four Danish carpet manufacturers, regional newspaper Parnu Postimees said.

The carpet manufacturers Dansk Wilton, Hammer, Dan-Floor and Ege Tępperi have been buying yarn from the Sindi factory to perform orders for Royal Caribbean Cruises, one of the world's biggest cruise operators, since 2015. This year, Sindi is producing yarn for the floor covers of two Royal Caribbean ships.

The managing director of the Sindi factory, Dennis Ulrik Kristensen, said that five orders from the Danish manufacturers have raised the revenue of the company by 6 mln euros in three years. In 2018, three cuise ships over 300 meters long and having a capacity for thousands of passengers each will get carpets made from yarn manufactured at Sindi.

Kristensen said that the manufacture of yarn for carpets to be used in cruise ships is just one part of their work and that in order to perform all orders the company needs to grow by approximately 200% during the next year. Of the planned additional workforce of 75, 40 are to be hired this year and 35 in 2018. At present the Sindi factory operates with 105 personnel.

The leap in output volumes has been made possible by an investment of 1.4 mln euros made in new manufacturing equipment and reconstruction of the plant building last year. The money necessary for the investment was provided by the parent company in Denmark, the report said.
