Amount of fresh milk supplied by Latvian dairy farmers in April down 0.7% y-o-y
The number of dairy cows in Latvia keeps shrinking. In April
2016, there were 161,932 dairy cows registered in Latvia but by April 2017, their
number has decreased by 4.7% to 154,249.
Milk purchase price edged down in Latvia in April this year
to EUR 290.8 per ton on average as compared to EUR 295 in March this year. Y-o-y,
average milk purchase price has increased by 49.2% from EUR 194.9 per ton in
April 2016. In the EU, average milk purchase price in April this year was EUR
330 per ton or by 0.3% less than in March 2017.
In March this year the amount of fresh milk supplied by
Latvian dairy farmers remained almost unchanged y-o-y at 63,374.3 tons but
average milk purchase price fell a little to EUR 295 per ton compared to EUR
300 in February this year.
