Persons who wish to purchase agricultural land in Latvia will need Latvian language proficiency on the A level - first degree.
A proposal for the language proficiency at an even higher level was turned down.
Furthermore, Saeima also supported amendments to the same law which foresees that agricultural land cannot be sold to foreigners who do not reside in Latvia.
