Latvian drug wholesalers raise sales 7% y-o-y in June

Latvian drug wholesalers sold EUR 30.21 mln worth of medicines, including value added tax, in June this year at a 7% rise from June 2015, according to the data of the State Agency of Medicines (ZVA).

Compared to May 2016, the aggregate sales of the Latvian drug wholesalers dropped 11% in June.


In June this year, the Latvian drug wholesalers sold EUR 25.62 mln worth of medicines to general drugstores.


The Latvian medicines wholesalers also exported EUR 10.11 mln worth of 520 various Latvian-registered medicines (including 236 government-funded medicines), up 30% from May 2016.

The average price charged by the drug wholesalers for a package of medicines was EUR 8.84 (VAT included) in June this year.


In 2014, drug sales in Latvia rose by 2.7% from 2013 to EUR 316.04 mln.
