Estonian fish processing co to export salmon worth EUR 2.3 mln to Japan

Estonian fish processing company M.V.Wool AS is to export 200 tons of salmon worth around 2.3 million euros to Japan in the second half of 2016, informs LETA/BNS.

"We have our foot in the door and we are doing well -- our produce is being praised," told head of the company Mati Vetevool. Last year the company exported 60 tons of frozen salmon to Japan and in the first half of the current year a total of 40 tons. It is Norwegian salmon which is processed and frozen in Estonia. The salmon reaches Japan by sea in 45 days.


The revenue of M.V.Wool last year increased 4% to 18.2 mln euros, while profit declined 25%  to 363,000 euros. Sales to Finland decreased from 2.8 mln euros to 1.4 mln euros and sales to France from 1 mln euros to 530,000 euros. At the same time sales to Sweden increased 135% \ to 4 mln euros, and the company started selling fish products to Japan and sales totaled 550,000 euros.
