Cigarette exports from Latvia grow 41.6% in January-April

There were 807.29 million cigarettes exported from Latvia to other countries in January-April 2016, which is a 41.63% rise from the same period in 2015, informs LETA, according to the information about excised goods released by the Latvian State Revenue Service.

In the first four months of this year, 17.438 million cigars and cigarillos were also taken to other countries, up 22.91% year-on-year.

 

There were also 1,670 kilograms of smoking tobacco exported from Latvia to other countries in January-April 2016 as opposed to just seven kilograms in the first four months of 2015.

 

Most of the tobacco exports during the period were destined to other EU member states – 798.124 million cigarettes, 17.438 million cigars and cigarillos, and 1,670 kilograms of smoking tobacco.

 

A total of 587.661 million cigarettes were released for consumption in Latvia in January-April 2016, up 2.74% from the same period in 2015. In addition, 19.003 million cigars and cigarillos and 16,145 kilograms of smoking tobacco were released for consumption in Latvia, which is a rise by 5.57% and 5.43% respectively from the first four months in 2015.
