6.3% reduction in export of Latvia’s wooden furniture registered in April

In the first four months of the year 2016, the value of Latvia’s wooden furniture export dropped by 6.3% against a year before to EUR 45.53 million, making up 6.3% of total forestry industry exports, informs LETA, according to the data provided by the Forest Department of the Latvian Agriculture Ministry.

Like in previous years, Latvia shipped the largest amount of wooden furniture, or 18.7%, to Germany, which received EUR 8.51 million worth of these goods from Latvia. Denmark followed with EUR 7.87 million and the UK with EUR 3.61 million worth of furniture, which made up 17.3% and 7.9% of Latvia’s total furniture exports respectively.

 

Meanwhile, Latvia’s wooden furniture imports decreased 14% year-on-year, from EUR 18.10 million in January-April 2015 to EUR 15.47 million in January-April of this year. Of that amount, 26.5% were received from Poland, 13.6% from Italy, and 12.5% from Lithuania. In monetary terms, furniture imports from these countries were worth EUR 4.09 million, EUR 2.11 million and EUR 1.93 million respectively.

 

As reported, last year the value of Latvia’s wooden furniture export rose by 2.85% against a year before to EUR 128.01 million, making up 6.2% of total forestry industry exports.

 

Meanwhile, Latvia’s wooden furniture imports dropped 9% year-on-year, from EUR 64 million in 2014 to EUR 58 million in 2015.
