The volume of logging in Estonian forests declined to 12.6 mln cubic meters in 2015

The volume of logging in Estonian forests declined by 560,000 cubic meters year over year to 12.6 million cubic meters in 2015, figures retrieved from felling documents and provided by Statistics Estonia show, cites LETA/BNS.

Regeneration cutting totaled 10.3 million cubic meters, of which clear cutting accounted for 10 million cubic meters. The volume of regeneration cutting declined by 420,000 cubic meters compared with 2014.

 

Altogether slightly over two million cubic meters of timber was cut in improvement cutting, 200,000 cubic meters less than the year before.

 

Other cutting totaled 266,000 cubic meters, 64,000 cubic meters more than in 2014.

 

Felling was performed in Estonia on 118,000 hectares last year, on 15,000 hectares less than in 2014.
