Foreigners to be allowed to temporarily work in Estonia for 9 months

The Estonian government has approved a bill of amendments to the Aliens Act, informs LETA, according to which foreigners would be allowed to temporarily work in Estonia for up to 9 months a year.

According to the bill, limitations in fields where short-term working is allowed in Estonia would be removed. In addition, general conditions for registering short-term working would be laid down and the maximum time period for temporarily working in Estonia would be extended from six to nine months a year, spokespeople for the government said.

 

Scientists, academics and top specialists would be allowed to work temporarily for the whole period they are allowed to reside in Estonia, which is up to a year.

 

The amended law is to enter into force on Sept. 30.
