Wooden furniture import, export continue to decrease in Latvia

Print versionLatvian wooden furniture export continued to decrease in the first quarter of 2016, when wooden furniture worth EUR 32.8 million was exported from Latvia – down from EUR 34.1 million exported in the first quarter of 2015, informs LETA.

Wooden furniture export accounted for 6.1% of total forest industry exports in the first quarter.
18.2% of furniture exported from Latvia in the first quarter went to Germany (worth EUR 5.97 million), 17.6% to Denmark (EUR 5.75 million) and 7.7% to Great Britain (EUR 2.52 million).
Wooden furniture import volume also decreased, from EUR 13.16 million in the first quarter of 2015 to EUR 11.33 million in January-March this year.
Most furniture was imported from Poland – 25.7%, Italy – 13%, and Lithuania – 12.1%.
