Only 8 out of 1,275 family physicians in Latvia able to meet all professional quality criteria

Out of 1,275 certified family physicians in Latvia, only eight have been able to meet all of the professional quality criteria, however, their fulfillment of the criteria is improving, according to a report in today's edition of the Neatkariga Rita Avize newspaper, cites LETA.

The National Health Service carried out an evaluation of family physicians in accordance with the professional quality criteria. 1,275 certified family physicians were assessed in total.

 

Eight family doctors were able to meet all of the 13 professional criteria, while 17 met twelve out of the thirteen criteria and another 17 met eleven of the criteria.

 

The best results were in Vidzeme Province, where 53% of family physicians met six of the criteria or more, while the poorest result were in Riga, where only about 20% of the family physicians met six or more of the criteria.

 

However, according tot he National Health Service, there has been a 2% increase in the number of family physicians meeting five of more of the 13 quality criteria.
