Lithuania's second-biggest beer producer Kalnapilio-Tauro Grupe (Kalnapilis-Tauras Group), which is owned by Denmark's Royal Unibrew, posted revenues of 10.67 million euros in the 1st quarter of 2016, down by 2.3% year-on-year, reports LETA/BNS.

The company said the income fell due to poor weather and the new deposit system, Verslo Zinios business daily said.

"The profit decline was caused by expenses in connection to the introduction of the deposit system. (…) Our calculations suggest we spent more than 130,000 euros to implement the deposit system requirements," the company's CEO Marijus Kirstukas said.

Over the first three moths of 2016, the company sold 23.94 million liters of various beverages, up by 1.6% from the same period last year.
