Belarus has allowed Lithuanian companies to ship fish products to the neighboring country, Lithuania's chief veterinary officer said on January 26th, cites LETA/BNS.

"Imports are allowed starting this Monday," Jonas Milius, head of the Lithuanian State Food and Veterinary Service, told BNS after meeting with Aleksandr Subotin, Belarus' deputy agriculture and food minister and head of the Veterinary Department, in Vilnius.

"There is an official document saying that fish shipments from all warehouses will be allowed, but their (Belarusian) representatives will have to be present," he said.

According to Milius, the Lithuanian Agriculture Ministry and Belarusian officials are to sign on Wednesday an agreement on the admission of certain products, such as milk powder, feed and grain, banned due to African Swine Fever.

Russia last December imposed a ban on the import of fish products from four Lithuanian companies: Viciunai ir Partneriai, Plunges Kooperatine Prekyba, Norvelita and Baltijos Delikatesai. Belarus banned imports from these Lithuanian companies shortly afterwards.
