According to head of the Estonian Food Industry Association Sirje Potisepp the organization will try to help find new exotic export markets for Estonian food products next year as well as strengthen economic cooperation with Africa, Asia and South America, informs LETA/BNS.

"We are still exporting to neighboring countries but that might not be enough in the coming years and we are therefore looking for new solutions. For instance, there is a plan to export more beer, cider, water and frozen fish to Africa. Beer and cider as well as energy drinks could be exported to Malaysia and Pakistan. Wheat flour is planned to be exported to Uruguay," Potisepp said on Wednesday at a press event.

As a result of the Russian embargo Estonia now wants to export more to other Asian regions.

"We are considering exporting milk, cheese and cream to Kyrgyzstan. Whey is being planned to export to Turkmenistan," she added.

According to Potisepp the craze of lowering a product's fat content as much as possible is fortunately starting to pass and companies are instead lowering the sugar content more.
