Personal hygiene products, blankets, clothing and matches will be provided to Latvian residents in cases of emergency, according to the regulations prepared by the Ministry of Economy and supported by the Cabinet of Ministers' committee on Monday, cites LETA.

The draft regulations aim to establish the procedure for providing Latvian residents with basic goods in wake of any emergency in the state, reducing the potential fallout from the emergency.

The Ministry has estimated the approximate costs per capita for basic goods; those up to age two – EUR 77.03 a month; from age two to 18 – EUR 39.83; those above 18 years – EUR 61.91 a month.

The sum paid to suppliers for the agreements signed on postponed deliveries might reach EUR 12 million a year, which is 10% of the estimated costs of an emergency situation in Latvia.
