Latvian Saeima approves using EUR 5.7 mln to cover hospitals' loans

Saeima in Latvia today approved the government's decision to use EUR 5.7 million remainder from the budget of Latvian Presidency at the Council of the European Union to cover part of state-underwritten loans for eleven hospitals due to be paid in 2015, informs LETA.

The largest amount will go to Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital – EUR 2,169,343, Riga East Clinical University Hospital will receive EUR 1,664,432, Children's Clinical University Hospital – EUR 889,158, hospital "Gintermuiza" – EUR 435,913, Ludza Medical Center – EUR 204,262, Riga Psychiatry and Narcology Center – EUR 167,040.

 

Smaller amounts will be provided to another five healthcare institutions. Akniste Psycho-neurological Hospital will receive EUR 96,129, Kuldiga Hospital – EUR 41,198, children's psycho-neurological hospital "Ainazi" – EUR 30,510, Strenci Psycho-neurological Hospital – EUR 13,852, and Daugavpils Psycho-neurological Hospital – EUR 4,965.

 

The hospitals will use the funds that will therefore become available to them to improve their services and for technical upgrades.
