Head of Lithuania's Food and Veterinary Service meets with US agricultural attache

Director of Lithuania's State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) Dr Jonas Milius has had a meeting with Agricultural Attache of the United States of America Russell Nicely and accompanying officers of the USA Embassies to Lithuania and Poland, the VMVT reports BC.

During the meeting, Nicely, who is responsible for the coordination of agriculture related issues not only in Poland but also in the Baltic countries as well as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria, welcomed particularly the agreement that allowed the export of Lithuanian meat and meat products to the USA.

 

During the meeting, further procedures for the export of Lithuanian products over the Atlantic Ocean were discussed.

 

Nicely said that the staff of their Embassy was very fond of Lithuanian dairy products, therefore, he was very pleased that the export of those products to the USA was gradually expanding. He said that Lithuania could be also proud of its exceptional quality meat production, therefore, it was very pleasing that USA consumers would have an opportunity to get acquainted with Lithuanian food traditions in the near future.

 

During the meeting, export possibilities for eggs and egg products to the USA were also discussed. Furthermore, proposals to organise joint seminars on the issues of animal contagious diseases, in particular, the prevention of African Swine Fever as well as promotion of livestock farming were discussed.
