BC, Riga, 04.08.2015.Print version
The Latvian construction materials manufacturer Cemex turned over EUR 86.9 million in 2014, maintaining this year's turnover on the level of the previous year, the company announced LETA.

One year ago, the company's turnover reached EUR 87.08 million.

The company's net losses last year reached EUR 1.8 million – this due to the effect of the mandatory procurement component for electricity in Latvia, as well as interest and depreciation in connection with the historical EUR 290 million investment in Broceni cement factory.

In 2013, Cemex earned EUR 4.84 million, but in 2012, the company suffered losses in the amount of EUR 14.18 million, according to Firmas.lv information.

The EUR 86.9 million turnover was achieved thanks to acquisition of new export markets in Sweden, thus, export volumes exceeded 70% of the total sales volume.

Cemex gross profit increased to EUR 26.7 million, which is 2% more than in 2013. This is due to constant efficiency improvements in the cement business. The company's mineral material sales volumes increased 12%, as the local demand in Madona Region increased.

Cemex has invested EUR 330 million in Latvia, EUR 290 of which were used for construction of the Broceni factory.

300 employees work for Cemex in Latvia, 200 of which are employed at the Cemex factory in Broceni.
