Swedbank issues EUR 11 mln loan to Kekava and Lielzeltini

Swedbank has issued more than EUR 11 million to Latvian poultry companies Putnu fabrika Kekava and Lielzeltini, which will use the loan over a period of three years in order to renovate poultry farms, modernize processing plants, and purchase new equipment, reports LETA, according to the bank's board member Reinis Rubenis.

Kekava will receive EUR 9.48 million, while Lielzeltini – EUR 1.91 million.

 

Among the investment priorities are modernization of manufacturing, optimization of business processes, and development of new products in order to facilitate the company's competitive capacity on both the local and export markets. The investment program will be implemented over the next three years.

 

"We are pleased to be together with such an important player of the Latvian food industry, and to support the company in its development, which will contribute to the company itself, as well as the national economy," said Rubenis.

 

Kekava and Lielzeltini CEO Andris Vilcmeiers said that investments will help increase the production volume, facilitate efficient and environment-friendly manufacturing process, as well as increase the product portfolio.

 

Lithuanian AB Linas Agro Group is an agribusiness parent company engaged in the production and trade of grains, oilseeds, feedstuff, poultry and poultry products, also agricultural inputs. It controls companies in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Denmark. As reported, Kekava turned over EUR 20.71 million and earned EUR 1.68 million in the first half of 2014, according to information provided by "Firmas.lv". In 2013, Kekava increased its turnover by 15% – from EUR 32,924,023 in 2012 to EUR 37,808,197 in 2013. The company also posted a record-high profit in 2013 – EUR 5,216,560 as compared to EUR 717,196 losses in 2012.
