Gambling and lotteries industry's turnover increases by 18.3% in Latvia in H1

The lotteries and gambling industry's turnover in Latvia in the first six months of 2015 increased by 18.3% from the first half of 2014, amounting to EUR 105.47 million, reports LETA, according to the Lotteries and Gambling Supervision Inspection's preliminary data.

Gambling companies' turnover totaled EUR 93.76 million in January-June, EUR 15.05 million or 19.1% more than in the first half of 2014, whereas lotteries industry's turnover amounted to EUR 11.71 million – a 11.9% increase.

 

Slot machines accounted for 77.2% of the total turnover of the industry in the first half of the year, lotteries – 11.1%, casinos – 6.2%, whereas the share of interactive games' turnover increased the most, from 2.5% in the first half of 2014 to 4.5% now.

 

In total, there were 8,532 slot machines in Latvia this past June (206 machines more than in June 2014), located in 323 gaming arcades (two fewer than last June).

 

The industry employs a total of 3,780 people at the moment.
