The Estonian Food and Veterinary Office received on Monday test results according to which the African swine flu has was discovered in a third farm in the Viljandimaa county, which is just a few kilometres away from Estonia's biggest pig farm Ekseko, the local Sakala newspaper writes, cites LETA.

Viljandimaa County Veterinary Centre director Terje Oper said that additional samples will be taken today, and the result will be announced tomorrow.

Sakala said that it was a small farmer's farm where the flu was found now, located a few kilometres from the Baltic's largest Ekseko a pig farm. Ekseko farm owner, AS Rakvere Farmid Communications manager Kerstin Aps stated that this incident does not affect them, since they have already taken all the necessary precautions. When asked what it would mean for the company to remain in the quarantine zone, Aps said that they cannot yet comment upon that.

The first African swine fever cases in domestic pigs in Estonia were discovered last week in two farms in Viljandi and in one in Valgamaa county. More than 500 pigs were executed.
