Ministry lists biggest sponsors among Estonian state-owned companies

Over the past five years, the Estonian state-owned companies have allocated sponsorship money for 4.9 million euros, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

Sponsorship payments to education amounted to a total of 1.9 million euros and sports received 1.6 million euros.

 

According to the Ministry of Finance statistics for 2010-2014, state-owned companies supported most the education sector, 38.6%; sports received 32.7%; the environment 3.7%; regional life 2.2% of the support. Other support accounted for 22.7% of total support.

 

Ten state-owned companies allocated sponsorship funds in 2010- 2014: Eesti Energia in the amount of 2.6 million euros; AS Tallinna Sadam in the amount of 1.37 million euros; Riigi Konnisvara in the amount of EUR 345,000; Lennuliiklusteeninduse AS in the amount of EUR 117,000; Elering AS in the amount of EUR 206,000; Eesti Loots AS in the amount of EUR 134,000; AS Eesti Raudtee in the amount of EUR 89,000; AS EVR Cargo, amounting to 7,000 euros; Vireen AS in the amount of 7,200 euros; AS Tallinna Lennujaam in the amount of 14,300 euros.

 

While, for example, in 2014, state-owned companies could pay subsidies of 4.2 million euros, the actual use of this possibility was only 18.2%.

 

In comparison, for example, in 2012, the companies used 39.9% of the allowed sponsorship funds and in 2011, 35.1%.
