BC, Vilnius, 07.07.2015.Print version
As Germany has recently had doubts about the quality of the automatic assault rifle G-36, Lithuania's Ministry of National Defence has frozen the purchase of these rifles, cites LETA/ELTA.

Germany's Ministry of Defence admits that G-36 rifles produced by Heckler & Koch have "precision" problems due to temperature fluctuations. Lithuanian National Defence Minister Juozas Olekas told 15min.lt that new purchases of G-36 will be stopped for an indefinite period of time until the reliability of the rifle is confirmed. The Armed Forces were planned to have a new batch of G-36 rifles this year.

According to the Ministry of National Defence, Lithuania's Armed Forces so far have purchased G-36 rifles for EUR 12.8 million.
