Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020 submitted to EU Commission

Print versionThe Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Program for 2014-2020 has been submitted to the European Commission. The aim of the program is to facilitate sustainable socioeconomic growth of specific cooperation regions, the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry informed LETA.

The program includes Vidzeme, Latgale, Riga, Pieriga, and Zemgale regions on Latvia's part, and Pskov Oblast, Leningrad Oblast, and Saint Petersburg on Russia's part. Its aim is to achieve positive changes in business activities and environmental protection, the ministry's representative Laura Jansone explained.
The program also stipulates facilitation of border management and security, mobility, and migration management.
The total funding of the program is EUR 27 million. Co-funding will be provided by the European Regional Development Fund, European Neighborhood Instrument, Latvia, and Russia.
