Largest in Baltics trauma and emergency care centre opened in Kaunas

Trauma and Emergency Care Centre of Kaunas Clinics, the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, was officially opened on June 29th 2015, reports LETA/ELTA.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius and Health Minister Rimante Salaseviciute. The new building was consecrated by Archbishop Sigitas Tamkevicius.

 

On behalf of the Government, the prime minister congratulated Kaunas Clinics with its 75th anniversary and thanked for its contribution to Lithuania's health care sector.

 

According to the prime minister, Kaunas Clinics is moving forward together with the modern world, and the opening of the Trauma and Emergency Care Centre proves this. It is an important event as the centre has been equipped following the best practice of doctors from the Nordic countries, the United States and Lithuania. Butkevicius wished doctors and the team of Kaunas Clinics the best of luck in their work.

 

The centre was designed by architect Virginijus Juozaitis and built by construction company Mitnija. The construction cost EUR 25 million.
