Sunday alcohol sales ban is not initially introduced in Tallinn

BC, Tallinn, 21.05.2015.Print version
The alcohol sales restrictions adopted by the Tallinn City Council last autumn will come into force from July 2015, but the Sunday alcohol sales ban is not initially introduced, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

According to the council's decree, strong alcohol retail sales will only be allowed in stores that have a total area of at least 150 square meters. Weak alcohol sale will thus remain allowed in small shops.

Restrictions take effect also to prohibit the retail sale of alcohol in stores located near educational institutions (50 meters).

The ban on selling alcohol in petrol stations will also come in force.

Although the city wanted to ban retail sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays, court disputes on this issue still continue, so this limitation will not initially come.
