Although millions of euro is being invested to establish science and business valleys in Lithuania, both businesspeople and Lithuania's top politicians admit that cooperation between business and science is lacking, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to Vakaru ekspresas.

They also say that higher education institutions should shift towards technology sciences.

On Monday, a forum was hosted by Klaipeda University titled Business and Science Cooperation: Best Practices and New Opportunities. Although promotion of science and business partnership was discussed at the event and best practices were introduced, business and government representatives assure that there is room for improvement for the Marine Valley as well as other valleys.

At the event Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius said that only the first steps were made. According to him, business has shown interest. For example, cooperation is strong in Kaunas Santaka Valley. The prime minister said that elsewhere, assessing based on set-out criteria, cooperation is minimal.
