Estonian Russian TV channel to be called ETV+

Print versionThe board of the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) approved on Monday the decision of the jury of the name contest of the Russian-language TV channel to be launched in autumn 2015, that the new channel's name will be ETV+, ERR's online news report.

The decisive factor was the simplicity and user-friendliness of the name irrespective of the nationality or communication language of the viewers. The "plus" at the end of the name refers to the nature of the new program; it is a new generation multimedia channel, which will be more than the traditional television, informs LETA.
The new channel's editor-in-chief Darja Saar said the contest received a total of 360 proposals of which 11 contained the name's visual solution.
At the end of September this year, ERR will launch its Russian channel, which aims to provide objective information about what is going on in Estonia and in the world and also engage, inspire, educate and entertain, and do it all in Russian.
