Today, members of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry elected Aigars Rostovskis to a three-year term as the organization's president, informs LETA.

Rostovskis was the only candidate running for the position. He will replace the former president Gundars Strautmanis.

In addressing the organization's members, Rostovskis said that the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue to do its best to facilitate exports and improve the business environment in the country. According to him, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry must maintain cooperation with other state institutions, such as the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.

With regard to business environment, the new organization's president called for valid arguments for discussion with the government in order to facilitate favorable results for businessmen. "In a result of unfavorable decisions, we must remain keen," Rostovskis stressed.

According to Rostovskis, another priority concerns the organization's activities in the country's rural areas.

Rostovskis is a co-owner of the private business school "Turiba", and Chairman of the Development Council. He also serves as Council Chairman at "Junior Achievement – Young Enterprise Latvija", and Board Member at the Higher Education Council.
