BC, Riga, 25.03.2015.Print version
Ahead of the abolition of the EU milk quota system on April 1, 2015, Latvia has exhausted 91.91% of its milk quota, the Agriculture Ministry informed LETA.

However, the approximate results will become available after April 15. Meanwhile, a precise estimation will be ready after summarizing the annual declaration after May 15.

As reported, forecasts had milk quotas exceeded by about 1% this year, which could result in a fine of more than EUR 2 million for Latvia.

The milk quota system will be abolished in the entire European Union this year. The annual quota period began on April 1, 2014, and will end on March 31, 2015. The remaining amount of milk quota for Latvia this year is 781,132 tons.
