BC, Vilnius, 05.03.2015.Print version
Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius is applying to the Prosecutor General's Office in order to find out whether the recent statements made by the former chief of the Public Procurement Office regarding the preparation for EXPO 2015 are correct and investigate whether there really were any signs of corruption in the related public procurements, informs LETA/ELTA.

"One of the news sites has reported about statements made by the former chief of the Public Procurement Office, Zydrunas Plytnikas, where he talks about alleged corruption activities conducted while preparing for EXPO 2015; these statements must be investigated. Lawyers have already applied to the Prosecutor General's Office, which is asked to probe whether any signs of corruption can be seen in the preparation for the exhibition and in making public procurements.

All tenders must be held in a transparent manner. When one sees potential cases of corruption, they should refer to relevant institutions instead of hurling accusations. Any kind of non-transparent activities must be precluded," the PM said.
