The share of EU increased in the export of Estonian food products in 2014

In the export of Estonian agricultural produce and food products, the share of the European Union increased in 2014, Äripäev.ee cites the Ministry of Agriculture.

Estonia exported in 2014 agricultural and food products in the value of EUR 1.22 billion in current prices and imported 1.48 billion euros worth. The share of agricultural and food products of Estonian origin in exports was 59.7%, which has risen by a percentage in a year, writes LETA.

 

European Union countries formed 72.8% of last year's exports and 93.1% of imports. While in the exports, the share of EU countries rose by 3.4%, in imports, it remained on the same level.

 

Most exports of agricultural products and food went to Finland (18.5% of total exports of agricultural and food products), followed by Latvia (16%) and Russia (15.8%). While in the Finnish direction, exports grew by 9.2 million euros, in the direction of Latvia, exports declined by 28.8 million and in the direction of Russia by 46.5 million euros.

 

The largest share of exports was formed by alcoholic beverages (11.8%), non-concentrated milk (6.5%, most of it raw milk) and frozen fish (5.5%).

 

Agricultural and food products were mostly imported from Latvia (14.7%), Lithuania (12.9%) and Finland (11.6%). Alcoholic beverages in Estonia (12%) and fresh fish (4.5%) were the most popular import articles.
