Lithuanian industrialists welcome another increase of minimum wage

BC, Vilnius, 10.02.2015.Print version
The Presidium of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists (LPK) has confirmed on Tuesday that industrialists welcome the Government's plans to increase the minimum monthly wage once again in July 2015, reports LETA/ELTA.

According to Robertas Dargis, President of the LPK, the industrial sector pays higher wages in any case, thus the increase of the minimum payment will not create problems for them.

"We have always maintained that raising the minimum monthly wage will not be a big issue for industrial companies because today they are already paying their employees more. Thus this question is for small businesses, which are facing difficulties, especially in the regions. The widest discussions will most probably involve small businesses from the Lithuanian Business Employers' Confederation," Dargis told ELTA news agency.

The industrialists have supported the increase of the minimum monthly wage in the past too.

As reported, it is planned to increase the minimum monthly wage to EUR 325 since 1 July.
