Ragn-Sells buys Latvian medical waste handler

Estonian waste management company Ragn-Sells announced that it has signed an agreement with the Latvian leading medical and health care waste handling company Lautus SIA; the purchase should create new competition especially in Estonian medical waste management market, LETA/Delfi reports.

"The Lautus SIA of Latvians has absolute top level of knowledge and handling capacity in the health care waste management, which supports Ragn-Sells' vision of providing customers with the best services of the sector. This merger will make our position stronger throughout the region and increases the Ragn-Sells medical waste handling services provision ability to a whole new level," said Chairman of the Board of Ragn-Sells AS Rain Vääna.

 

An estimated 530 tonnes of hazardous medical waste per annum is created in Estonia, which forms a small amount compared to the volume of everyday waste (330,000 tonnes). However, the requirements set on its collection and handling are among the highest.

 

Waste management company Ragn-Sells AS is Swedish family company Ragn-Sells Företagen AB subsidiary company in Estonia.
