The preliminary value of the intercepted drugs is around LTL 23 million (EUR 6.6 million), it is so far the biggest cocaine contraband in Lithuania since 2010 when officers in Klaipeda intercepted 500 kilograms of cocaine.

In the afternoon of 12 December, officers of Klaipeda territorial customs inspected a shipping container which had three suspicious tarpaulin bags. A primary drug test showed that suspicious white powder in packages inside them probably is cocaine.

A total of 116 kilograms was detained; its value on the black market should stand at around LTL 23.2 million.

Customs officers note that many large drug consignments have been seized in ports of numerous European countries in recent weeks.
