New police commissioner general appointed in Lithuania

Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has appointed head of Kaunas County Police Headquarters, Linas Pernavas, as the new police commissioner general. Pernavas will start his work from Tuesday, informs LETA/ELTA.

His candidacy was presented by the Government to the president on Monday. He was one of three individuals whose candidacies for the position were considered: one of them was Deputy Commissioner General Renatas Pozelas, while the third candidate remained nameless.

 

Pernavas graduated from the Law University of Lithuania (the current Mykolas Romeris University – ELTA) and received his Master's degree from Vilnius University. He started working in the interior system in 1995.
