According to the new government declaration, the prospective government in Latvia is committed to raising the minimum wage, reports LETA.

According to the government declaration, the minimum wage could increase by approximately EUR 40. Furthermore, the government is also committed to gradually increasing the minimum wage level, so that it reaches half of the average wage level.

In 2016, the prospective government also plans on implementing a progressive untaxed minimum tax system, with the untaxed minimum raised for low income earners, about the same for those receiving mid-level salaries, and will not be applied at all to persons who have salaries well over the average. At the same time, the prospective government also plans on easing the tax burden for families with children.

The prospective government is also committed to solving regional unemployment problems, and problems related to persons being unemployed for a longer period of time.
