The agreement with Ukraine was supported by 65 MPs, that with Georgia by 66 MPs and that with Moldova by 62 MPs.

The aim of the association agreements is to accelerate deepening of political and economic relations of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova with the EU and the gradual partial access of these countries to the EU internal market. Creation of free trade areas between Ukraine and the EU, Georgia and EU and Moldova and the EU helps a lot in this respect. An important part of the association agreement is harmonization of the legal spheres of the states with the EU legislation.

In addition, the association agreements are the basis for national reform programs of the states, to contribute to implementing the rule of law, democracy, human rights and free market principles. EU assistance to these countries is connected to the reform plan too.
