A precinct in downtown Riga for 12th Saeima elections [scheduled for Saturday] reports with surprise this evening that a line has formed with about 120 persons wanting to take advantage of the preliminary voting option yesterday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m, reports LETA.

Most everyone was caught by surprise at Riga High School No. 1, including precinct manager Daina Gulbina, who reports that the wait in line is about 45 minutes.

LETA spoke to several voters. One lauded the activism of citizens, another pointed out that "nothing will change after the election anyway", but a third complained that the "queue is too long."

61 polling places are open today till 8 p.m. for those voting early. Election Day – October 4 – the polls open at 7 a.m.
