Estonia to spend more than 500,000 euros on Obama’s visit

BC, Tallinn, 29.08.2014.Print version
While it has not yet been calculated precisely how much Estonia will spend on organising the visit of President Barack Obama to Tallinn next week, Minister of Internal Affairs Hanno Pevkur estimated that the amount would exceed half a million euros, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

Pevkur said at the Government Press Conference on Thursday that authorities will strive to keep the spending efficient. He added that the total costs will depend on extra-time work police officers will have to put in, and added that Police Prefect of the Northern Police Circuit Kristian Jaani has stated that 1,500 – 1,700 police officers will be included in the security routines during the visit.

Pevkur said that the importance of President Obama’s visit is much more valuable than the extra costs incurred.
