BC, Riga, 21.08.2014.Print version
Saeima appointed Gaidis Berzins (All For Latvia-For Fatherland And Freedom/LNNK) as the new justice minister during an emergency meeting today, reports LETA.

55 coalition members and independent MEPs voted for Berzins, while 26 Harmony Center members and independent MEP Davis Stalts voted against. Two former Harmony Center deputies abstained.

As reported, Berzins previously said that the Justice Ministry had initiated several projects to make the judicial system more efficient. Some of these projects have already been implemented, and the remaining must be completed until the current government's term in office ends.

These include the law on arbitration courts, regulations on insolvency administrators, electronic auctions and others, said Berzins.
