Grybauskaite will submit 11 draft laws, 13 initiatives to Lithuanian Seimas
Legal initiatives are based on priorities of the second presidential term which are directed at consolidating accountability, security and justice in Lithuania.
"Laws have to protect Lithuanian citizens anytime they face dishonesty. In a country with the rule of law a person cannot feel being robbed and helpless," said President Dalia Grybauskaite.
Legal environment should ensure greater transparency of the public sector and eliminate illegal work. Draft laws reflect the president's attention to the quality of health care and protection of children's rights.
The president's initiatives highlight the necessity to augment Lithuania's security. For example, to ensure safe information space in Lithuania.
"Information attacks are becoming more and more blatant, therefore, we must be ready to give a proper response," the head of state stressed.
Fight against corruption has been granted high priority in the second term of office. The president proposes to make declaration process of private interests even more effective.
More transparency in the public sphere will emerge if Parliament approves the president's initiative to publish information about owners of media outlets and their financial relations.
