Ziemele ready to take Constitutional Court judge's post of Latvia

The European Court of Human Rights Judge Ineta Ziemele is ready to assume the Constitutional Court judge's position, informs LETA.

Ziemele told LETA that she has agreed to become a Constitutional Court judge and is ready to take the job.


As reported, the ruling coalition decided to nominate Ziemele for the Constitutional Court judge's position, Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma (Unity) informed the press after the coalition council meeting yesterday.


Saeima members may nominate candidates for the judge's position at the Constitutional Court until August 1.


The post has been vacant since the Constitutional Court Judge Vineta Muziniece was convicted of forgery and dismissed.


Ziemele told LETA previously that her mandate to work at the ECHR would expire on October 31, 2015.
